Take an inside look at restoration of century-old downtown buildings
CWD Real Estate Development is gutting the interiors of the 50 Monroe office complex it bought five years ago.
The building at 37 Ottawa Avenue NW was once the home of the Grand Rapids Furniture Co., a division of the Leonard Refrigerator Co. In this photo, the building at 50 Monroe Avenue NW was not yet built.
They were covered with modern panels and glass in the mid-1980s as developers sought to reclaim the southern end of downtown Grand Rapids.
