Support Racquet Up Detroit with Your Next Sayl
For the next 6 months, MarxModa will be donating $10 for every Sayl Task Chair sold to support Racquet Up Detroit.
The Sayl Task Chair was designed by Yves Béhar to be highly affordable while still incorporating everything Herman Miller performance seating is known for: beautiful design, first-class ergonomics, elegant engineering, and respect for the environment. Inspired by San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge he adapted the engineering principles of a suspension bridge to create Sayl's 3D Intelligent® back that lets you stretch and move, striking a healthy balance between support and freedom.
As part of our commitment to making a difference in our community, MarxModa will use sales of this stylish chair to raise money and awareness for Racquet Up Detroit. Racquet Up Detroit helps youth in Northwest Detroit achieve their full potential through a long-term, demanding, and inspiring mentoring program of squash, academics, and community service.
Racquet Up’s program is intensive and holistic with the ultimate goal of helping students get to and through college. The main components are academic tutoring, literacy support, squash instruction and competition, fitness and nutrition, community service, cultural enrichment, summer opportunities, mentoring, college access and success, and career pathways.
Youth join in 5th grade and are supported through graduation from high school and college. Over many years in the program, students are provided with significant academic support, world-class coaching in the sport of squash, and a wide range of character-building exposure activities.
In the past 10 years Racquet Up has:
- Improved ACT scores of participants
- Improved school attendance (RUD students attend at a rate of 92% compared with the 80% Detroit average)
- 100% of students to complete the program have graduated from high school and been accepted to college
- 88% of alumni are persisting with college
Having expanded to an average enrollment of 110 students 5th through 12th grade, in addition to 24 alumni, Racquet Up is set to significantly increase its capacity to serve youth and families. The construction of a new, dedicated facility is underway and will be completed by the end 2021. This world-class education and youth development center will serve as a “neighborhood portal to college and career” for decades to come, and provide a permanent home for Racquet Up in Northwest Detroit.
Racquet Up is truly making a difference for the youth of Detroit and we are so happy to support their efforts. With the purchase of your next Sayl Task Chair, you can help them continue to support and encourage kids in Northwest Detroit.
